Hydrogel photocatalysts for efficient energy conversion and environmental treatment

摘要: Photocatalysts have attracted great research interest owing to their excellent properties and potential for simultaneously addressing challenges related to energy needs and environmental pollution. Photocatalytic particles need to be in contact with their respective media to exhibit efficient photocatalytic performances. However, it is difficult to separate nanometer-sized photocatalytic materials from reaction media later, which may lead to secondary pollution and a poor recycling performance. Hydrogel photocatalysts with a three-dimensional (3D) network structures are promising support materials for photocatalysts based on features such as high specific surface areas and adsorption capacities and good environmental compatibility. In this review, hydrogel photocatalysts are classified into two different categories depending on their elemental composition and recent progresses in the methods for preparing hydrogel photocatalysts are summarized. Moreover, current applications of hydrogel photocatalysts in energy conversion and environmental remediation are reviewed. Furthermore, a comprehensive outlook and highlight future challenges in the development of hydrogel photocatalysts are presented.

Organic conjugated polymers and polymer dots as photocatalysts for hydrogen production

摘要: Owing to the outstanding characteristics of tailorable electronic and optical properties, semiconducting polymers have attracted considerable attention in recent years. Among them, organic polymer dots process large breadth of potential synthetic diversity are the representative of photocatalysts for hydrogen production, which presents both an opportunity and a challenge. In this mini-review, first, the organic polymer photocatalysts were introduced. Then, recent reports on polymer dots which showed a superior photocatalytic activity and a robust stability under visible-light irradiation, for hydrogen production were summarized. Finally, challenges and outlook on using organic polymer dots-based photocatalysts from hydrogen production were discussed.

摘要: To solve resource, energy, and environmental issues, development of sustainable clean energy system is strongly required. In recent years, hydrogen has been paid much attention to as a clean energy. Solar hydrogen production by water splitting using a photocatalyst as artificial photosynthesis is a promising method to solve these issues. Efficient utilization of visible light comprised of solar light is essential for practical use. Three strategies, i.e., doping, control of valence band, and formation of solid solution are often utilized as the useful methods to develop visible light responsive photocatalysts. This mini-review introduces the recent work on visible-light-driven photocatalysts developed by substitution with metal cations of those strategies.

Hydrogen production from water splitting on CdS-based photocatalysts using solar light

摘要: Hydrogen energy has been regarded as the most promising energy resource in the near future due to that it is a clean and sustainable energy. And the heterogeneous photocatalytic hydrogen production is increasingly becoming a research hotspot around the world today. As visible light response photocatalysts for hydrogen production, cadmium sulfide (CdS) is the most representative material, the research of which is of continuing popularity. In the past several years, there has been significant progress in water splitting on CdS-based photocatalysts using solar light, especially in the development of co-catalysts. In this paper, recent researches into photocatalytic water splitting on CdS-based photocatalysts are reviewed, including controllable synthesis of CdS, modifications with different kinds of cocatalysts, solid solution, intercalated with layered nanocomposites and metal oxides, and hybrids with graphenes etc. Finally, the problems and future challenges in photocatalytic water splitting on CdS-based photocatalysts are described.

Preparation and characterization of ZnO/ZnS hybrid photocatalysts via microwave-hydrothermal method

摘要: The photocatalytic performance of ZnO/ZnS hybrid nanocomposite was largely higher than that of the mere ZnO or ZnS nanoparticles, but the complicated procedure and misdistribution of final products limited its large-scale productions. The exploration of a novel synthesis route of ZnO/ZnS hybrid photocatalysts with high catalytic performance is becoming a crucial step for the large-scale application of ZnO/ZnS hybrid photocatalytic technique. Preparation and characterization of nanosized ZnO/ZnS hybrid photocatalysts were studied in this paper. The photocatalysts were obtained via microwave-hydrothermal crystallization with the help of sodium citrate. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), particle size distribution (PSD), and Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The results indicated that so-synthesized ZnO/ZnS samples consisted of the high pure cubic (sphalerite) ZnS and hexagonal ZnO nanocrystallines with a narrow particle size distribution. The possible formation mechanisms of ZnO/ZnS nanocrystallines were mainly attributed to the superficially protective effect of citrate. The photocatalytic experiments demonstrated that the ZnO/ZnS photocatalysts exhibited a higher catalytic activity for the degradation of acid fuchsine than other monocomponents.

Bismuth oxide-related photocatalysts in green nanotechnology: A critical analysis

摘要: A survey addressing the uses of bismuth oxide in photocatalysis is presented. The richness of literature on such a specific topic proves the growing importance of this compound as a valid tool in pollution abatement and environmental decontamination. Many research groups have focused their activity on how to improve the photocatalytic properties of this semiconductor and several solutions have been adopted in the synthesis method, often based on wet-chemical processes. The impressive development of nanoscience helped in understanding and identifying process variables and operative conditions aiming at optimizing the yield of this promising photocatalytic material in the utilization of solar energy.

摘要:

半导体光催化是解决全球能源短缺和环境污染问题的潜在途径。黑磷(BP)具有空穴迁移率高、带隙可调、光吸收范围宽等特点,在光催化领域得到了广泛的应用。然而,由于未经处理的BP的光生载流子分离效率较低,其光催化活性仍然较低。BP基异质结构光催化剂具有更高的光生载流子分离效率,其研制设计已成为近年来光催化领域的研究热点。本文总结了BP及其异质结构光催化剂的设计、合成、性能和应用方面的进展,阐述了BP基异质结构光催化剂在分解水、污染物降解、二氧化碳还原、固氮、杀菌消毒和有机合成中的应用,阐明了BP基异质结构光催化剂设计的机遇和挑战。该综述将促进BP基异质结构光催化剂在能量转换和环境修复中的发展和应用。

摘要:

光催化分解水可以将太阳能直接转化为氢能,是一种有效利用太阳能的途径。开发用于太阳能制氢的高效且稳定的光催化剂是光催化研究领域的重要目标之一。钽基氮氧化物具有窄的带隙宽度,并且光生电子和空穴的势能足够用来分解水,因此该类光催化剂最有可能实现太阳能制氢。到目前为止,全世界的研究小组对钽基氮氧化物光催化剂进行了系统而深入的研究,取得了大量的成果。然而,钽基氮氧化物的太阳能制氢效率还远远低于理论值。如何更好地设计这些材料进而提高其太阳能制氢效率这一命题是十分重要和有意义的。本文总结了钽基氮氧化物用于光催化制氢的研究和发展过程,着重分析了用于提高光催化分解水效率的各种方法。最后,探讨了窄带隙钽基氮氧化物光催化分解水研究领域的未来发展趋势。
